Epoxy-based coating technology was introduced in the vehicle production process 30 years ago, providing great advantages in preventing rust and corrosion on vehicles’ body and key metal parts. This technology is known as Waterborne Cathodic Electro Deposition and involves applying a thin anticorrosive epoxy-based coating as a primer to metal parts.

The inTENse C10 project will make use of some creative ideas and be an attention getter, but students also are learning about how coatings play a huge role in the successful completion of all metal area prep. Though epoxy coatings have been used in the industry for over three decades, their use still brings questions about their importance and how they contribute to the final appearance of a vehicle.

This technique came into widespread use in the 1980s and is used in 90% of cars manufactured today. After being applied, epoxy coatings are cured and covered by visually appealing paint that serves both as a top-coat and helps protect the primer from damaging UV light. Epoxy resins provide superior adhesion to metal and resistance to corrosive agents. It enables application of a thin, uniform coating directly onto the metal, even in small spaces and cavities, creating a uniform texture.

In recent years, water-based primers, made from water-soluble resins free of toxic solvents, have become more popular due to their environmental friendliness and ease of use. Epoxy primer is considered better in many applications due to its unique properties and advantages. Here are some reasons why epoxy primer is often preferred:

  • Excellent Adhesion: Epoxy primer has exceptional adhesion to various surfaces, including metal, concrete, wood, and fiberglass forming a strong bond, ensuring better paint adhesion, and reducing the risk of peeling or flaking.

  • Corrosion Resistance: Epoxy primer provides excellent protection against corrosion, acting as a barrier, by preventing moisture and corrosive substances from reaching the underlying substrate. This is particularly important for metal surfaces that are prone to rust and degradation.

  • Chemical Resistance: Epoxy primer exhibits high chemical resistance, making it suitable for applications where exposure to chemicals, solvents, fuels, or acids is expected.

  • Durability: Epoxy primer is known for its durability and long-lasting performance. It forms a tough and resilient film that can withstand wear, abrasion, impacts, and environmental factors, such as UV radiation and weathering.

  • Enhanced Paint Performance: By providing a solid foundation, epoxy primer enhances the overall performance of the paint system, improving the paint's color retention, gloss, and resistance to chipping, fading, and staining.

It's important to note that the effectiveness of epoxy primer can depend on proper surface preparation, application technique, and compatibility with the specific paint system being used. It's recommended to follow the manufacturer's guidelines and consult with professionals for the best results.

Geometry Dash is a rhythm-based platformer developed by Swedish developer Robert Topala (RobTop) and first released for iOS and Android in 2013. Known for its simple controls, punishing difficulty, and vibrant community-driven content, the game distilled platforming into timing and muscle memory while layering levels with electronic music and hypnotic visual design. Over the past decade it has grown from a mobile curiosity into a cultural touchstone for speedrunners, level designers, and players seeking precise, bite-sized challenges.

7p777 showed up in my feed a few times, so I poked around out of curiosity to see what the site looks like. I didn’t dive deep into any of the actual stuff, but the layout was easy to get the hang of right away. The main menu is right there where you’d expect it, and I didn’t have to hunt around to figure out where things were. What I noticed most is how the page is broken up—everything sits in these clean, separated sections instead of being jammed together, so it’s pretty quick to skim. It’s the kind of setup where you can bounce around for a minute and not feel lost. The headings and those tidy content blocks…

This was an interesting read, especially the way it frames Epoxy Coating the C10. For a quick browser break afterwards, I keep this light game bookmarked: AI Outfit.
